Create a WorkWay account

Generate an API key

Open API Keys in your dashboard, give the key a name (for example Claude Desktop), optionally pick an expiry, and create it.

The key is shown once. Only a SHA-256 hash is stored, so it cannot be retrieved later — copy it before closing the panel.

Add the server to your client

WorkWay is a remote MCP server, so there is nothing to install — you point your client at the endpoint and supply your key.

Restart your client after editing its config file.

Verifying it works

If tools do not appear, check the key directly:

A working key returns the list of ten tools. Anything else returns 401 with a message naming the cause:

Message	Meaning
`A WorkWay API key is required.`	No `Authorization` header, or the scheme was not `Bearer`.
`That WorkWay API key is not valid.`	The key does not match any issued key.
`That WorkWay API key has expired.`	The key had an expiry and it has passed.
`That WorkWay API key has been revoked.`	The key was revoked from the dashboard.

Use a separate key per client. Revoking the one on a machine you no longer use then leaves your other clients working.
